Kerala gold smuggling case: Sivasankar admits to have contacted Customs for retrieving diplomatic baggage, says ED

Kochi: The Enforcement Directorate stated that M Sivasankar, former Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and now arrested in connection with the gold smuggling case, had contacted the Customs officials and made request to retrieve the diplomatic baggage addressed to UAE Consulate containing smuggled gold as per wishes of another accused Swapna Suresh.

The arrest memo issued by ED further stated that Sivasankar gave the statement when he was interrogated on October 15 and it proves his involvement in the offences committed by Swapna.

ED also stated that Sivasankar was involved in dealing with Swapna’s financial dealings.
