In Karnataka, a Government appointed Committee headed by cardiologist Dr. Devi Shetty has recommended to continue lockdown at all the hotspots in the state with high prevalence of COVID-19 positive cases. It has suggested that close observation of the pandemic should continue for next six months. It has recommended closure of schools and colleges till May end. It has also suggested that inter-state flight and train services and AC buses must not operate now. Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa received the report and said that a plan of action will be prepared by the Government after considering guidelines issued by the Central Government. With six new cases reported yesterday, the total confirmed cases in Karnataka stands at 181 with five deaths and 28 discharges. Primary Education minister Suresh Kumar informed yesterday that a Private hospital in Kalburgi has been closed down as it had hidden the information about the COVID 19 patient who died yesterday.
Meanwhile, to withstand the Psychological impact of isolation during lock-down the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences in Bengaluru has suggested ways to cope with anxiety. The Director of the Institute Dr. B N Gangadhar spoke to AIR on ways to keep good mental health during this time
