Saudi Arab is home of Islam. It is holy place for Muslims. Al-Masjid al Haram in Mecca and Al-Masjid al Nabawi in Medina are considered to be the holiest places in Islam. And Pakistan was formed to fly the flag of Islam. Nevertheless, Saudi Arabia deported 40,000 workers to their home land. Official statistics in Saudi Arabia inform that 2,43,000 Pakistani workers had been deported during 2012 to 2015.
To make the matter worse for Pakistani aspirants to work in Saudi Arabia, prominent Saudi politicians like Abdullah Al-Sadoun, chair of the security committee of the country’s Shura Council, have pressed that tougher screening processes for Pakistani nationals should be conducted before they enter into the their country. What is the reason behind mass deportation of Pakistani workers from Saudi Arabia? Why isn’t Pakistan—which, once, shouted slogan of “Pakistan is Islam, Islam is Pakistan”—welcome in Saudi Arabia?
The Saudi Gazette—which quoted unnamed interior ministry officials—answered that Pakistani workers indulge to violate visa regulations as well as they commit crimes including drug trafficking, forgery and theft. Pakistani nationals were also found to have links to ISIS and other extremist groups, the paper said. Abdullah Al-Sadoun, chair of the security committee of the country’s Shura Council said, “Pakistan is a country, which is infested with terrorism. The extremist movement called ‘Taliban’ was initiated in Pakistan.” Almost, 80 Pakistani nationals—charged with terror or security related offences—are currently lodged in prisons of Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia has conveyed the world a strong message that Saudi Arab is an Islamic State, however, it would not hesitate to strictly deal with Muslims if they cause threat to national security. When it comes to their national security they don’t think twice to throw out Pakistanis, who call themselves carrier of Islam.
Today, when central government is debating to implement National Register of Citizens (NRC), why are oppositions and so called intellectuals protesting against it? These days so called intellectual group are shouting slogans of “we would not show our documents.” Is it acceptable for them if bad elements of society from neighbouring countries come to India and disappear after committing crimes? Is it fine for them if India doesn’t even know if criminals are from neighbouring countries or from India?
India’s responsible citizens—who are concerned about their national security—are asking these questions from oppositions as well as so called intellectuals groups. Would they answer?
