The Bangladeshi persons involved in the alleged rape and torture of a Bangladeshi woman in Bengaluru are members of an international gang of human traffickers.
Bangladesh police said that the gang has its network across several countries of the middle east, Bangladesh and India.
The police came to know about the gang while following up on a complaint lodged on Thursday by the father of the victim of the traficking and rape.
The victim’s father alleged that a person named Hridoy lured the girl to India with a promise to send her to Dubai.
Investigating the case, police came to know of an international gang involved in trafficking of young girls from Bangladesh.
The police found that Hridoy, known as ‘TikTok Hridoy’ was one of the linchpins of the gang.
Briefing media in Dhaka on Saturday, Deputy Commissioner of police Md. Shaidullah said that the gang targeted students of schools and colleges and sometimes young housewives.
They were lured through social media channels like Facebook and Tiktok by using videos.
They also offered the girls jobs in hotels, supermarkets and beauty parlours where they were forced into prostitution by making their obscene videos and threatening them to send these to their families.
Earlier, Bengaluru police had arrested six Bangladeshis including a women for allegedly raping and torturing a woman from Bangladesh.
