Top officers in the Indian and Chinese military on Thursday held Commander-level talks along the Line of Control in wake of the persistent flare-ups at the border.
The meeting comes in the backdrop of a massive victory by the Indian Army at the LAC after they took control of strategic positions at Finger 4 area near the Pangong Tso lake in eastern Ladakh.
“The armies of India and China today held Brigade Commander-level and Commanding Officer-level interactions in Eastern Ladakh. Interactions are aimed at keeping the communication lines open between the two sides,” sources in the Indian Army said, according to news agency ANI.
Earlier in the day, reports stated that the Indian Army had occupied heights overlooking the Chinese army positions at Finger 4 along the Pangong Tso lake.
“These operations were carried out along with the preemptive actions to occupy heights near the Southern bank of Pangong Tso lake around August end,” Army sources said.
As per reports, China had occupied heights near Finger 4 but the Indian forces have now occupied the strategic heights that overlook Chinese positions, including Green top.
While the Chinese have been stationed at Finger 4 since April-May, they have refused to disengage from the position and other friction points in eastern Ladakh.
India recently outsmarted China by taking control of the strategic height near the southern bank of the Pangong Tso lake. The Indian Army foiled an attempt by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army to transgress into Indian territory near Chushul in Ladakh.
The Chinese Army has since May transgressed in multiple areas including the Finger areas, Galwan Valley, Hot springs, and Kongrung Nala.
