India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in parts of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand today. A similar alert has been issued for East Madhya Pradesh for tomorrow. According to the IMD, very heavy rainfall is also expected in East Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Odisha. Additionally, parts of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will experience heavy rainfall.
The IMD reports that the deep depression over Gangetic West Bengal is anticipated to move slowly westward across the region and maintain its intensity as a deep depression until the afternoon. The IMD predicts a moderate risk of flash floods in several watersheds and neighbourhoods in Bihar, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, and Jharkhand. The department advises fishermen not to venture into the northern Bay of Bengal and along the coasts of Bangladesh, West Bengal, and Odisha until tomorrow morning.
