In the ICC Cricket World Cup, the first semi-final between India and New Zealand will continue today as rain forced the play to go into reserve day yesterday. New Zealand will resume at their overnight score of 211 for 5 in 46.1 overs at Old Trafford in Manchester at 3 pm Indian time today.
After more than four hours of rain, the umpires decided at 10.50 p.m. that even the minimum required 20 over play was not possible under the Duckworth Lewis method. The match was thus moved to the reserved day to continue from where it was left off.
Earlier yesterday, New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat. Ross Taylor at 67 and Tom Latham at 3 were on the crease when rain stopped the match at around 6.30 in the evening.
