Union Home Minister Amit Shah today announced that the next year will be dedicated to the modernisation of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the welfare of BSF personnel.
Addressing the BSF’s Diamond Jubilee Foundation Day ceremony at Bhuj in Gujarat, the Home Minister stated that the Home Ministry has set a five-year target to make the BSF the most modern and aggressive force in the world. He highlighted the BSF’s crucial role in implementing the new concept of ‘e-Border’ security, a major government initiative.

Highlighting BSF’s achievements, the minister said the force has seized narcotics worth Rupees 12 lakh 95 thousand crore in various operations against drug trafficking. On counter-insurgency, the Minister praised the BSF’s work, asserting that the country will be free from Naxalism by March 31st, 2026. He mentioned that in Chhattisgarh, BSF actions led to the surrender of 127 Maoists, the arrest of 73, and the neutralisation of 22.

The Home Minister made a strong statement regarding national security and democracy, emphasising that the decision on political leadership rests only with the citizens of India. He vowed that the government’s resolve is to pick out and expel every single infiltrator from the country.

He appealed to the public to fully support the Election Commission’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, calling it a process to secure and purify the nation’s democracy.

Mr Shah, on the occasion, launched a commemorative postage stamp marking the Diamond Jubilee celebration and also inspected the Parade. The Minister presented the Gallantry Medal posthumously to Head Constable Sanwala Ram Bishnoi, who was received by his wife, Smt. Rukman. Mr Shah also awarded the medals and trophies to the brave BSF warriors for their exemplary contribution to National security.
