HM Amit Shah: Serving Persons with Disabilities Inspires and Motivates Others

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that when an individual dedicates his life to service, especially in the service of persons with disabilities, he not only inspires many others but also motivates them to join such noble work.He was speaking today at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of new buildings of Shri Parsmal Bohra College for the Blind in Jodhpur, where he was the chief guest. The Home Minister said that small initiatives in social service can create big changes for Divyanjans. . He stressed that persons with disabilities should not be viewed with sympathy but as symbols of divinity. With the combined efforts of society, government, and voluntary organizations, nothing is impossible. Citing India’s 52 medals in the Paralympics, he said the achievements prove that differently-abled persons can do anything if their inner strength is encouraged. Mr. Shah also pointed out that the Union Government established the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, whose budget has risen from rupees 338 crore in 2014 to Rupees 1,313 crore today. On the occasion, Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma also addressed the gathering.
