Heavy to very heavy rain predicted in seven northern districts of Tamil Nadu

An upper air circulation is being observed in northern Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra coastal regions. Weather officials in Chennai say the system is set to trigger heavy to very heavy rain in seven northern districts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai and its three adjoining districts of Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur for the next 24-hours. Four southern districts including Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Ramanathapuram may experience isolated heavy rain.
 
The MET Department bulletin further said the convection clouds brought very heavy rain early this morning at several locations in Chennai. It led to flooding at several locations. Mylapore in Chennai recorded a maximum of 18 centimeter rain.
