Normal life has been affected due to heavy rain in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Champawat, Nainital and Almora for the last 48 hours.
Several roads have been blocked due to heavy rains and landslides. Along with this, due to the continuous rains in the mountainous region, the rivers and streams in the plains are in spate. People have been asked to stay at safe places.
On the other hand, there are reports of damage to two residential buildings in Bageshwar and one in Almora. In view of the alert of the Meteorological Department, the Chamoli administration has closed the area for tourists till tomorrow.
Snowfall has occurred on the higher hills of Badrinath and Kedarnath. The holiday has been declared in the schools in the hilly region.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in Dehradun, Bageshwar and Tehri of the state as well. Devotees and tourists have been appealed not to travel.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the administration has been put on alert mode.
