India’s Grandmasters D Gukesh and R Praggnanadhaa played out their eighth consecutive draw in as many games at the Sinquefield Cup 2024 in Saint Louis, U.S.A. In the eighth round, the World Championship challenger Gukesh ended with a draw against Holland’s Anish Giri in 23 moves, while Praggnanadhaa and local favourite Fabiano Caruana also drew after 28 moves.
With all games culminating in draws in the eighth round, Alireza Firouzja of France secured the Grand Chess Tour 2024 title with one round remaining, earning a 100,000 US dollars bonus.
