National Health Accounts estimates have been released, which give out interesting details of the health sector. According to the estimates, while per capita government expenditure has doubled in the country, people’s expenditure on health has decreased, reported HS. The share of out-of-pocket expenditure (OOPE) in total health expenditure has declined from 62.6 percent in 2014-15 to 47.1 per cent in 2019-20. The National Health Accounts Estimates have been released for the year 2019-20 on Wednesday. According to the NHA estimates, the health expenditure to GDP ratio has increased. The share of government health expenditure in total health expenditure has also increased from 29 per cent (2014-15) to 41.4 per cent (2019-20). NITI Aayog Member (Health) Dr Vinod K Paul released India’s National Health Accounts (NHA) estimates in the presence of Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan.
On this occasion, VK Paul said that there has been a positive improvement in many indices related to health expenditure in India, which have been visible regularly. The report highlights increased public spending on primary healthcare. The expenditure on the health of the people has come down. This is due to grassroots initiatives like opening of over 1.6 lakh Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centers (AB-HWCs).
In the meantime, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to inaugurate the 6th edition of Advantage Healthcare India, AHCI 2023 in New Delhi on Wednesday through a video message. The two-day event organized by the Health Ministry will be held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
The emphasis of the event will be on building an ecosystem and forging global collaboration and partnership between the various stakeholders of the healthcare industry. The primary focus is on patient and healthcare workforce mobility, so that value-based healthcare services can be provided to the patients in different countries in a hassle-free manner.
The event aims to showcase India as the new hub for providing quality and world-class healthcare and wellness services at affordable price.
More than 470 foreign delegates will be participating in the event. 100 MoUs are likely to be signed by the stakeholders in the event.
