Govardhan Puja is being celebrated in different parts of the country today. In Uttar Pradesh, Govardhan puja is being celebrated religious fervour especially in Mathura and Vrindavan area. Foreigners, locals as well as pilgrims from all over the country are worshiping lord Krishna at various temples of Mathura Vrindavan on the occasion of Govardhan pooja. Due to Covid pandemic the historic ”parikrama” of sacred hillock Govardhan is restricted this time. Main function will be organised at Keshav deb gondia math (केशव देव गोड़िया मठ) in Govardhan.
Devotees are offering lavish chhappan bhog to the god and make the hillock of cow dung called gobardhan. People also decorate their cows on this occasion.
In Chitrakoot today famous lathmar diwari and folk dance will be performed . In lucknow sky is full with colourful kites from morning itself as people here traditionally celebrate Jamghat on the next day of Diwali.
