EC prohibits any road show, pad-yatra, cycle, bike or vehicle rally in West Bengal

Election Commission has prohibited any road show, pad-yatra, cycle, bike, vehicle rally in West Bengal in light of non adherence to the COVID protocols by many political parties. In an order issued today, the Central Poll body said that public meetings beyond the limit of 500 persons will also not be allowed in the state. The new provisions came into effect from 7 pm today and will stay in place till the conclusion of the polls.

Taking strong cognisance of the non adherence of COVID protocols to be followed during election campaigning by several political parties the Commission issued the order today.

The Election Commission reiterated its direction to all the political parties to strictly adhere to the COVID protocols in all the future rallies in the state which would be held with maximum 500 people.
