Delhi govt appoints former Olympic medallist Karnam Malleswari as 1st Vice Chancellor of Delhi Sports University – The Delhi government has appointed former Olympic medallist Karnam Malleswari as the first Vice Chancellor of Delhi Sports University. Former weightlifter Karnam Malleswari is the first Indian woman to win a medal at Olympics. She won the bronze medal at the Sydney Olympics Games in 2000.
In a tweet yesterday, Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said, Delhi Sports University is going to start and with this big dream has come true. He said, it is extremely proud to say that Olympic medalist Karnam Malleswari will be the first Vice Chancellor of Delhi Sports University.
In a tweet, Karnam Malleswari has said she is looking forward to enhancing the sporting ecosystem and Olympic movement in the country by creating world class Olympians for India. She assured to provide her best contributions to attain the objectives of the envisioned dream of Delhi Sports University.
