Covid-19 recovery rate reaches 77.15 percent; Over 30 lakh people recover so far

Over 30 lakh people in the country have recovered from COVID-19 so far. In all, 66 thousand 659 patients recovered during the last 24 hours taking the overall recovery number to 30 lakh 37 thousand 151. The overall recovery rate has also maintained it’s upward trend and has now reached at 77.15 per cent.

The Health Ministry said, the constant increase in recoveries have ensured that the actual caseload of the country is reduced and currently comprises only 21.11 per cent of the total positive cases. The number of recovered patients is now more by over 3.6 times as compared to that of the active cases .

The Ministry said, the number of recovered patients in the country has grown over four times in a span of two months. Health Ministry also informed that less than even 0.5 per cent of the total active cases require ventilator support whereas only two per cent require Intensive Care support. It said, this has been possible due to early detection, early hospitalization and effective clinical management based on Standard Treatment Protocol.

Effective implementation of ‘Test, Track and Treat’ approach has led to higher recoveries and lower fatality. Currently, India’s Case Fatality Rate is at 1.74 per cent.

India has achieved the milestone of conducting nearly 11 lakh 70 thousand COVID tests consecutively for two days today. The country has witnessed significant stepping up in it’s COVID testing capacity in the last 5 months. From just 160 labs testing Covid samples on 23rd of March this year, the country today has one thousand 631 labs.

Out of these one thousand 25 are government labs while remaining 606 are private. So far, with an overall testing figure of 4 crore 66 lakh 79 thousand 145, the nation has also been able to maintain a remarkably low positivity rate of around 8.5 per cent. Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh have recorded a positivity rate even lower than 5 per cent.

The Health Ministry said that high levels of testing sustained over a period of time in widespread areas has enabled early diagnosis of cases and facilitated seamless isolation and hospitalisation. It said this has also led to low mortality rate.

In the last 24 hours, 83 thousand 341 new cases were reported taking the total number of positive cases to 39 lakh 36 thousand 748.

Maharashtra , Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh together account for over 50 per cent of the confirmed cases added in the last 24 hours.

Presently, the total number of active cases in the country is eight lakh 31 thousand and 124. In the last 24 hours, one thousand 96 deaths have been reported taking the toll to 68 thousand 472.
