Congress leader DK Shivakumar, who was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday, 30 August, said that he had delayed his appearance before the ED as he had to offer Gauri pooja, among other family engagements, while leaving for Delhi.On Thursday, Shivakumar was summoned by the ED in a money laundering case.
According to The News Minute, the fresh summons came after the Karnataka High Court dismissed the former water resource minister’s petition seeking the quashing of ED summons.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Shivakumar said that it’s a normal Income Tax matter and that he will respect the ED’s summon and show up. “There is no Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) involved here,” he said.
He further said that his properties are being attached since the past two years by various authorities as benami properties, adding that he is the benami on these properties. “Our entire blood has already been sucked,” Shivakumar told the news agency.
Shivakumar then blamed the BJP for harassing him. “My great friend CM Yediyurappa had said in the Assembly that he will not indulge in vindictive politics, but he started working with vindictiveness the day he assumed office. It is unfortunate, he is canceling orders of the previous government,” Shivakumar told ANI.DK Shivakumar, Congress Leader”There are no illegal activities that I’ve done.
