America’s first motorcycle company, Indian Motorcycles had recently announced the launch of the FTR 1200 bikes. Now the company is opening bookings for the FTR 1200 S and 1200 S Race Replica in India.
Priced at Rs 14.99 lakh and Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively, interested buyers can pay an initial amount of Rs 2 lakh at dealerships across the country.
The design of the FTR 1200 is based on the FTR 750 bike that has been winning at the American Flat Track championship series. It features an upright riding position while the trellis frame and the fact that the fuel tank sits under the seat allows for a nimble riding experience thanks to a lower centre of gravity.
Powering both bikes is a 1,203cc V-twin engine that produces 120 PS and 115 Nm of torque that is controlled by Sport, Standard and Rain ride modes and throttle response traction control. The engine also heavily uses magnesium to keep weight low. A low-inertia crankshaft helps the bike touch the red line quicker.
uspension duties come via an inverted front fork setup and a similar rear suspension and swingarm as the FTR750 race bike. Braking on the front is handled by radially mounted dual Brembo brakes.
The Dunlop street tyres have been newly designed and feature a flat track inspired tread. The handlebar is a Protaper flat tracker aluminum handlebar to adhere to its flat tracking heritage.
As mentioned before bookings for the bikes have already commenced for the price of Rs 2 lakh, but expect deliveries to begin only in April 2019.
