Any guesses why? The film starring Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif has already entered Bollywood’s Rs 100 crore elite club just three days after release.
The film witnessed a record opening on the box office as it grossed upwards of Rs 50 crore on November 1, according to BoxOfficeIndia, and collected close to Rs 28 crore and Rs 22.75 crore on the next two days.
However, the problem for Thugs of Hindostan is that around 50 percent of its weekend collection came on the first day and has dwindled since. This makes it unlikely for the box office collection to touch Rs 250-Rs 300 crore, which should have been an decent number for a film of this stature.
Nonetheless, films do not generate money only on the basis of ticket sales as there are other components like satellite rights, online streaming rights that bring in capital for filmmakers and Thugs of Hindostan may not be a investment for YRF.
Yet, tickets sales of November 11 will be crucial for sealing the film’s fate and one will have to wait and watch whether it does better business.
