Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the much-awaited ropeway project in Jammu, this Friday.
The 1.18 km long ropeway project in the Peerkho-Mahamaya section is set to give a positive push in the union territory of J&K.

The Peerkho- Mahamaya ropeway project worth Rs. 75.83 crores comprise two sections. Section-I is between Peerkho (Below Mubarak Mandi) and Mahamaya, with a distance of 1.184 km, whereas section-II lies between Mahamaya temple and Bahu fort, with a distance of 0.485 km.
The project lies amidst picturesque landscapes, where the gushing Tawi flows from behind the Peerkho temple, surrounded by lush green mountains and the distant sound of trains passing through the Shivalik ranges on the Jammu-Baramullah line.
With the opening of the Peerkho-Mahamaya section of the ropeway for the public, the religious tourism circuit connecting three major temples of Jammu city, namely, Peerkho, Mahamaya, and Bahu temple has also been completed. The ropeway is sure to provide a lifetime experience to the tourists, said LG Manoj Sinha.
It offers a host of other facilities including restaurants, walkways, lawns, public utilities, parking space, and other recreational facilities for the people.
Impact: How it’ll be beneficial?
LG Manoj Sinha while speaking on the impact of the prestigious ropeway project on tourism, observed that the complete operationalization of Jammu Ropeway would further boost the tourism sector of J&K.
Further, it will accelerate the socio-economic development of the region by generating direct and indirect employment and livelihood opportunities for the locals.
It will also open doors of infrastructural development in the area and new sources of revenue for the state, in tourism.
This is another leap in the long trail of developmental projects that have and will be unraveled in the newly formed union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
