Assam, UP governments to provide free vaccines to all from age of 18 to 45 years

Assam and Uttar Pradesh governments have decided to provide free vaccines to all from the age of 18 to 45 years.

The Assam government has decided to give free vaccines to all from 18 to 45 years. Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the Centre is giving free vaccines to above 45 years. He said that, funds collected under Assam Arogya Nidhi last year to be utilized to procure vaccines. He said that the Health department has placed order yesterday to buy 1 crore doses. AIR Correspondent reports, Assam has recorded 1 thousand 651 cases during the last 24 hours while 3 persons succumbed to Covid 19. Kamrup Metro district has registered highest 742 cases in this period.
 
The Assam government issued SOP yesterday to contain spike  of Covid 19 for those districts which have minimum 100 active cases. As per the guidelines, all market places, shops, supermarkets and weekly market to be closed by 6 pm.  The Assam government encouraged working from home and virtual mode. On the other hand, 50 percent students should attend in person on a day in educational institutes. Public transport to be operated with 50 percent capacities. The order also restricted the number of guests in private functions including marriages to 100. Chief Secretary Jishnu Baruah said , the situation in Assam is not so alarming but appealed all to follow the guidelines.
 
Uttar Pradesh government has also decided to administer COVID vaccine free of cost to all those above 18 years of age from May 1. The decision was taken at cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The Cabinet also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for opening up vaccination for all above 18 years of age.
 
The statement issued after cabinet meeting said that state government will take forward the vaccination programme with its own resources. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the PM’s decision will help in better management of COVID and massive vaccination will help in defeating coronavirus.
