Assam govt safeguarding community land & homes of indigenous people: State CM

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has assured that the land which originally belongs to tea tribe community will remain with them.

Attending a program in Jorhat district, he said that the Assam government is committed to protect the rights of the indigenous people. Mr Sonowal said that since assuming office, the current government has been working to safeguard the rights and privileges of the people of Assam.

He also said that his government has adopted a land policy particularly to protect land rights of the indigenous people of the state. He also allayed the fear generated by some vested interest groups that land survey being done by the state government would lead to selling of land to outsiders.
