Apple’s Tile-like Bluetooth tracker has been in news for quite sometime now. The company was expected to launch the device alongside the iPhone 11 series smartphone last month. However, the purported tracking device, which reports indicated would be used to find users’ belongings, missed the company’s September launch event. Now a new report has indicated that the company might launch the Bluetooth-based tracking device soon.
According to a report by 9To5 Mac, iOS 13.2, which was rolled out earlier this month, contains a folder within the filesystem that not only confirms the existence of such a device but it also gives several interesting detaila about the device. The report states that Apple’s Tile-like Bluetooth tracker will be called AirTag and that it would be paired with users’ iPhones just like the Apple AirPods.
The report also states that the device – AirTag – will help users in tracking their items using the Find My app that was upgraded with the launch of iOS 13.
The folder also contains a video asset called “BatterySwap”. The presence of this asset indicates that the Apple AirTag could come with a replaceable battery as was hinted by several reports in the past. Beyond that, there is no details available as to when Apple could launch its Bluetooth tracker.
As per a separate report by the publication, the company could also launch smart battery cases for iPhone 11 series smartphones, which consists of the iPhone 11, the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max, soon. The evidence of this was burried inside the iOS 13.2. The report states that the smart battery cases for iPhone 11 series smartphones will come with a large square-shaped hole for the phones’ camera setup and that they would provide extended battery life to the newly launched iPhones.
Meanwhile, Apple launched AirPods Pro in India earlier this week for Rs 24,990. The newly launched AirPods come with a bunch of new features such as a water-resistant design, active noise cancellation mode and a transparency mode that allow users to listen to their surroundings and block outside noise at the same time. The AirPods 2 will be available in India starting October 30.
