It might be surprising for some, but Apple has doubled the prices of RAM upgrade for its entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro laptop. In the US, the upgrade from 8GB LPDDR3 RAM (basic) to 16GB RAM now costs $200 (roughly ₹15,000)instead of $100 (roughly ₹7,500). Same has been found in other countries including Germany and the United Kingdom where the prices have hiked from EUR 125 to EUR 250 and GBP 100 to GBP 200, reports Macrumours.
Although Apple keeps changing the price of components based on their price that keeps fluctuating over time, what’s interesting here is that this comes for the 13-inch MacBook Pro that launched just a month ago. It has been pointed out that since most of the Apple manufacturers operate from China, where the factories have opened up once again, it is unusual for the iPhone maker to increase the price.
And surprisingly, this increase comes only for the new 13-inch MacBook Pro and not for other MacBook laptops for now. However, since all machines don’t use the same type of RAM, we may see a rise in cost of specific types of RAM components only. For instance, the high-end 13-inch MacBook Pro, which uses faster RAM, has the same upgrade price of $400.
Apple unveiled its new 13-inch MacBook Pro in India this month itself with a base price of ₹1,22,990. The new MacBook Pro has a 13.3-inch LED-backlit display with IPS technology, 2560×1600 resolution, 500 nits brightness level, P3 colour gamut support and True Tone technology. Powering it is the Intel 10th generation processors with up to 1TB storage, which can be configured to 4TB as well, along with 32GB RAM support. The base model features 8GB RAM, which can be configured to 16GB. The laptop is available with Intel 8th generation processors as well.
One of the highlights of this laptop is the Magic Keyboard. Apple has brought back the popular scissor-style keys that have more travel time and are comfortable to type on. Even the recently launched MacBook Air has the same keyboard. For those unaware, the Butterfly keys that came in MacBooks until last year failed to get a positive feedback from customers due to several issues.
