Home Minister Amit Shah will chair the 22nd meeting of the Central Zonal Council at Raipur, in Chhattisgarh, today. There are five Zonal Councils in the country which were set up in the year 1957. Central Zonal Council comprises of four states- Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh. Chief Ministers of the member states along with Chief Secretaries and senior officers will attend the meeting. Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh is the Vice Chairman of the meeting.
The Zonal Council is an effective platform for the resolution of inter-state disputes as well as irritants between Centre and member-States. Union Home Minister is the Chairman of each of these five councils.

The meeting of the Central Zonal Council was last held in Lucknow on September 24, 2018. The Zonal Council is an effective platform for the resolution of inter-state disputes as well as irritants between Centre and member-States. During his day-long visit to Raipur, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also address BJP leaders and intellectuals in a programme to be held at state BJP headquarter in Raipur.
