Amit Shah: Left-Wing Extremism to End by March 2026

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that Left-Wing Extremism will be completely eradicated from the country by March 31 next year. Speaking at the valedictory session of Naxal Mukt Bharat in New Delhi today, Mr. Shah said, when the Narendra Modi government came to power in 2014, India faced three major internal security hotspots – Jammu & Kashmir, the Northeast, and the Left-Wing Extremism corridor – where violent incidents were severely affecting national security. He stated that the government adopted a long-term strategy to address these challenges. In the Northeast, the number of security personnel killed has declined by 70 per cent between 2014 and 2024, compared to the previous decade from 2004 to 2014.
