Agriculture Ministry says several schemes being implemented to promote organic farming in country

The Agriculture Ministry has said several schemes are being implemented to promote organic farming in the country. Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Kailash Choudhary informed Lok Sabha that under conventional farming, Namami Gange and Natural Farming schemes organic farming is promoted among farmers. He said currently 38 lakh hectare area is covered under organic farming across the country.

Replying to another question, Mr. Choudhary said, a large number of farmers have adopted Soil Health Card and an ICAR study shows that it has led to decrease in use of fertilizers in the country.
