Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said PM Dhan-Dhaanya Yojana and Self-Reliance in Pulses Mission are initiatives aimed at making the nation Aatmanirbhar.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch PM Dhan-Dhaanya Yojana and Self-Reliance in Pulses Mission this Saturday from Pusa Campus in New Delhi.
In an interview with DD, the Agriculture Minister said that under PM Dhan-Dhaanya Yojana, the government will identify 100 low-productivity districts and implement targeted measures to enhance productivity. He said the farmers of these districts will benefit from the improvement in irrigation coverage and credit access. He further stated that if the productivity of low-performing districts is raised to the national average, overall national production will rise, and farmers’ incomes will increase.
The Agriculture Minister highlighted that India is the largest producer and consumer of pulses, and also the biggest importer. He emphasised that the government has launched the Pulse Self-Reliance Mission to boost production, productivity, and cultivated area.
