Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has directed the concerned officials to ensure that the benefits of PM KISAN Samman Nidhi is available to all eligible farmers in Odisha. This comes in response to the concern expressed by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on the stoppage in payment of PM Kisan benefits to the eligible farmers in the state.
AIR correspondent reports that in a letter to the union agriculture minister Mr Pradhan had drawn his attention to the Government of Odisha stopping payment to 14.5 lakh farmers for physical verification. Mr. Pradhan said, this has led to the reduction of the number of PM Kisan beneficiaries in the state to whom payment could be effected to only 23 lakh.
Mr Pradhan had urged the Union Agriculture Minister for the expeditious rectification of the details of beneficiaries whose record have been put in ‘stop payment’ mode. Earlier, Mr Pradhan had written to the chief minister of Odisha to ensure the benefits of the PM Kisan scheme reach all the eligible farmers in the state.
Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mission for doubling the farmers income in the country, Mr Pradhan had said that the Government of India has undertaken a slew of high-impact initiatives for the purpose that include the PM Kisan scheme.
