While the death of Jeyaraj and Bennicks was taken over the mainstream media and political parties to spread their own political narratives. The death of 25-year-old, auto driver did not even make a mark in the media.

Kumaresan, a young auto driver hailingfromVeerakerala Pudhur of Tenkasi district in Tamil Nadu is another story of police brutality.
He was called for an inquiry on 8th May 2020 over a land dispute case and his father Navaneetha Krishna and uncle Mariyappan allege that he was trounced brutally for no reason. Kumaresan and his father were threatened not to talk about it to anyone. He was initially admitted to Surandai hospital after release.
He was cruelly thrashed, and those effects started showing from 10th June 2020. He was admitted and treated in casualty ward of Tirunelveli Government Hospital from 13th June 2020 onwards.
His medical reports say “Assaulted, multiple injuries, MODS (Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome), respiratory failure and pulmonary embolism.” Kumarasen died on 28 June 2020, amidst the hospitalisation.

Initially family members had approached the SP, district collector, and then approached CM’s special cell about the brutality, which ended up in vain. Agitation by the family members and friends, police named the SI Chandara Sekar and constable Kumar in the FIR, just with the basic 174(3) CrPC. No updates about arrest of anyone.
