BCCI Announces ₹51 Crore Reward for Indian Women’s Cricket Team After ICC Women’s World Cup Win

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash reward of 51 crore rupees for the Indian women’s cricket team players, support staff and selection committee, in recognition of their momentous achievement of winning ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup for the first time in history.

In a statement, the BCCI said that the support staff and every stakeholder have delivered an extraordinary performance on the grandest stage, fulfilling the aspirations of millions of fans across the country.

Over the historic win, BCCI President, Mithun Manhas, said that the team’s resilience, talent and togetherness have lifted our nation’s hopes, and this triumph vindicates the investment and faith the BCCI placed in building a world-class women’s programme.

On Sunday, Harmanpreet Kaur-led India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the ICC Women’s ODI Cricket World Cup Final in Navi Mumbai. The Women in Blue successfully defended the target of 299 runs by restricting South Africa to 246 runs in 45.3 overs. Shafali Verma got Player of the Match award for her 87-run knock and 2 crucial wickets in the summit clash, while Deepti Sharma won the Player of the Tournament award for her all-round performance.
