PM Modi to be Guest of Honour at Mauritius National Day celebrations next month

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the Guest of Honour at Mauritius’ 57th National Day celebration next month. Mauritius Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam announced this while addressing Parliament.

Ramgoolam said that it is a great privilege for Mauritius to host such a distinguished figure, especially considering his tight schedule. He emphasized the honor of welcoming Modi, underscoring the strong and enduring relationship between India and Mauritius. Ramgoolam further added that Modi had agreed to be their special guest.

The visit follows Prime Minister Modi’s recent trips to Paris and the United States, further emphasizing the importance of the India-Mauritius relationship. Mauritius commemorates its National Day on March 12th each year, marking the anniversary of its independence from British rule in 1968. President Droupadi Murmu attended Mauritius’ National Day celebrations last year as the chief guest.
