Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to induct first indigenously developed light combat helicopters into Indian Air Force in Rajasthan today

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will induct the first indigenously developed light combat helicopters (LCH) into Indian Air Force at Jodhpur in Rajasthan today, October 3.

In a tweet, Defence Minister said the induction of the helicopters will be a big boost to the IAF’s combat prowess.

The light combat helicopter is a dedicated combat helicopter designed and developed indigenously in India. It has been manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

According to HAL, the light combat helicopter is the only attack helicopter in the world that can land and take-off at an altitude of 5,000 metres or 16,400 ft with a considerable load of weapons and fuel, meeting the specific requirements of the Indian Armed Forces.

The helicopter is equipped with the requisite agility, manoeuvrability, extended range, high altitude performance and around-the-clock, all-weather combat capability. It will be a potent platform to meet the operational requirements of the Indian Air Force and Indian Army.
