Tamil Nadu CM announces three Crore rupees prize money for gold medal winners in Tokyo Olympics – Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has announced a prize money of three Crore rupees for sports persons from the state who win gold medals in the Tokyo Olympics. Speaking at the vaccination camp held exclusively for sports persons in the State, he said that silver medalists would be given a prize money of two crore rupees and bronze medalists would get one crore rupees.
The Government has given Rs. 5 lakh to seven sports persons in the State for participating in Olympics. Netra Kumanan, K.C.Ganapathy and Varun Thakkar from the State are participating in yachting. Others are G.Sathyan and Sarath Kamal in table tennis and Bavani Devi in fencing. Mariappan, Paralympic gold medal winner in high jump, will participate in the paralympics. The Government also plans to vaccinate differently abled sportspersons at their homes.The Government is in the process of identifying and training sports persons in the four divisions of the State and provide them quality care apart from sponsoring them to attend international and Olympic events at a cost of Rs. 25 lakh per sports person.
