The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is carrying out joint surprise checks in nearly hundred places across 15 states. Vigilance teams of the central government departments, Union Territories and public sectors undertakings and Income Tax department are also assisting the agency in the searches.
The special drive is being conducted in coordination with vigilance teams of departments concerned primarily at places where common citizens or small businessmen feel the maximum pinch of corruption in the government machinery.
