Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that Swami Vivekananda saw India as a cultural consciousness that has been alive for centuries. He wanted to make the country an ‘awakened India’ beyond a political or geographical unit.
Today, on the occasion of 125th year lump of Enlightened India magazine, the Prime Minister said that it is a very happy occasion. The Prime Minister said that Swamiji had named the magazine Enlightened India so that it could express the soul of the country.
Referring to two letters written by Swami Vivekananda, the Prime Minister mentioned two ideas of Swamiji for empowering the poor. He said that Swami Vivekananda wanted that the poor get all opportunities to become empowered and at the same time develop an understanding and vision in them so that they can find their own way to betterment.
He said that today’s India is moving ahead with this thinking. Banks and insurance schemes are being extended to the poor through Jan Dhan Yojana, Jan Suraksha Yojana. At the same time health facilities from Ayushman India are reaching the poor.
The Prime Minister said that roads, education, electricity and internet services have been extended to every corner of the country. It has spread new hopes among the people which is taking the country on the path of development.
