India welcomes US President Joe Biden’s decision to remain part of WHO

India has welcomed US President Joe Biden’s decision to remain part of the World Health Organisation. Union Health Minister and Chairman of the WHO Executive Board, Dr Harsh Vardhan said he notes with pleasure that the United States will continue to work with all members of the WHO with renewed commitment to multilateral cooperation and action against global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. He was making closing remarks at the 148th session of the WHO Executive Board.
 
The Minister said the post-COVID-19 world will be filled with challenges and to overcome them, the WHO needs to be a trailblazer, empowered to work towards a new vision that allows it to realise its full potential and strengthen health care systems across member nations.
 
He added that 2020 the year of science with all the remarkable achievements by our scientists and researchers has also been one of great global solidarity. He said the member nations will need continued cooperation to ensure equitable distribution of the fruits of our collaboration.
