Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today inaugurated 1.75 lakh houses built under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin in 12 thousand villages in Madhya Pradesh. The Prime Minister released the ‘Griha Pravesham’ plaque and inaugurated all the houses simultaneously. He also spoke with some of the beneficiaries of Dhar, Sidhi, Singrauli and Gwalior districts’ via video conferencing.
Talking to the beneficiaries, the Prime Minister said that the government is doing everything possible to remove the problems of the poor. All of these houses have been built and completed during the current challenging COVID-19 pandemic period. The program was broadcast live in 16,440 gram panchayats and 26,548 villages. About 1 crore 25 people registered to listen to this program.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that today is the beginning of a new life for these families. 17 lakh poor households have also benefited from Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin till now in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister informed that from 17th Of September, the birthday of the Prime Minister, the State will start distributing ration entitlement slips to 37 lakh poor people of the State.
Earlier the Prime Minister had given a clarion call of ‘Housing for All by 2022’, for which a flagship programme of PMAY-G was launched on 20th November, 2016. So far 1.14 crore houses have already been built across the country under the programme. The scheme has provisions for convergence with other schemes of Central Govt and States for providing LPG connection, electricity connection and safe drinking water.
Madhya Pradesh Government, through its Samridh Paryavas Abhiyaan, has combined 17 other schemes like social security, pension scheme, ration card, Prime Minister Kaushal Vikas Yojana, National Rural Livelihood Mission etc together to provide additional benefits to these people.
