Gender Equality is a major point for the Social Activists to protest in Sabarimala. There are many Hindu Temples where women are not allowed on particular day pooja for some reason and to protect our Hinduism, these tradions are still followed with unity.
Karumpaarai Muthayya Swami Temple in a village near Thirumangalam, Madurai district was very famous, since the Swami was too powerful and been believed he is the protector of the villages in and around Madurai.
Every year in the month of December (Margazhi in tamil) a Food Festival for Swami will take place. Slaughtering the goats for Muthayya swami and doing pooja was the main function there.
No women, even a 1 year old girl child cannot enter into the temple or the area border itself, on the day when this function happen.
Nearly 300 goat’s meat were cooked and a food distributed only to the Men. No Women will enter the temple till the entire temple gets cleaned and the women can do Swami dharshan only after the Priest inform them.
The Men participated in this festival informed our reporter that ‘This is our tradition and all our village women were supporting us till date, if the lunatic women entered Sabarimala have enough guts, we ask them to visit here, we will teach her what is the power of hindus. Our Karumpaarai Muthayya Swami will teach the cheap protestors who is lord ayyappa’.
