Mother Child relationship is unique among all. It’s just not a relationship of mother… mother is friend most of the time. Mother realizes what’s going on in the mind of child. Mother can gauge if child is hiding something or not. Mother can read eyes of the child. Mother can listen to the silence of her child. On the other hand child tells mother his or her deeper, darkest secrets, mother just not acknowledges it or listens but becomes part of child’s journey. No matter what age the child is…. Mother always listens to the child.
Sant Dnyaneshwar has written many Virhini or Virani. Virahini is a female protagonist, who is pining for her love in various modes. This physical separation or mental separation for her is painful and usually she expresses it to someone near. She narrates what’s happening to her, she may explains her physical and psychological pain.
Most of the Varahini written by Sant Dnyaneshwar are revealing their conditions to their Mother. No matter how deeper, darkest and vulnerable the condition is, Mother of the protagonist heroin listens to her child.
In today’s blog we will see few Virani written by Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and the secrets revealed by daughter to her mother.
The separated protagonist who has been haunted by Krishna says, Mother please close the window, moon light is burning me. When mother applies sandal paste, Virahini says, I don’t need sandal paste. I fill empty when I sleep alone without my Krishna. Get that Krishna here, only he is the nectar for my condition.
Another Virahini states her condition to her Mother as…
Oh Mother! My mind got sinful and sly and got into things which I shouldn’t have done. When I saw Govinda/ Krishna… He came to take away that sinful and sly thoughts, and I became one to him.
In other Virahini the condition gets described as
His dark complexion, dark figure magnified me. What should I do oh Mother, I can’t leave that dark man from my mind. Now only reason to come out of this situation is to get to that Dark man be one with him.
A separated heroin talks to her mother about the emptiness and loneliness
I am now in such distant place, and I can’t forget him. I can’t tolerate this separation. Just like the day my nights are going sleepless Oh Mother! Such a condition he has given me. The one who is solace to this condition is Krishna.
There are hundreds of Virahinis which proclaims the secret sharing between mother and daughter by Sant Dnyaneshwar.
Dnyaneshwar secretly tells this to us that mother is one who can listen to anything of your life. She is the solace to the flittering mind. Dnyneshwar himself became Mother of everyone and he is called as “Mauli”- Mother.
