6500 pregnant women have registered at the Indian Consulate to be evacuated from UAE

Dubai: 6500 pregnant women have registered at the Indian Consulate to be evacuated from UAE after the coronavirus outbreak and the subsequent lockdown. 11 of them will fly home on the Dubai – Kozhikode flight on Thursday.

Most of the women and their families pointed out lack of medical insurance and the high medical expense for delivery here as reasons for their demand for immediate evacuation.

Indian Consulate in Dubai is giving priority to women who are over 28 weeks pregnant. Special arrangements are being made for their journey, said Neeraj Aggarwal, Consul, Press, Information, Culture in the Indian Consulate in Dubai.

There are around 9000 pregnant women registered at NORKA website from all over the world to be repatriated to Kerala.
