The heart is one of the most vital organs of the body, and performs some key functions that help the human body to stay healthy. However, heart health still remains the most compromised with poor lifestyle choices and dietary habits that only make it worse. Even in 2020, heart diseases remain the leading cause of death globally.

As we battle the COVID-19 pandemic, various studies have found that viral disease can cause long-term and short-term damage to the heart. The virus is also known to cause severe complications in people who may already be suffering from one or more heart diseases. Contrary to popular and initial belief, even young people are developing severe heart problems due to the disease. This only makes it even more vital to take seriously the symptoms of any kind of health issue, irrespective of age.

5 symptoms of poor heart health you should not ignore

Even as the human body is younger, it can show certain signs and symptoms that something, internally, may be going wrong. The 30s are an age of transformation, and it is also the time when your body stops producing new cells. During your 30s, you can experience certain health issues and symptoms that you must take seriously.

Discomfort in your chest – Any kind of discomfort in your chest such as heaviness, pain, pinching, etc could be a sign of an underlying condition such as a blocked artery. If you experience chest discomfort too often, it may be better to talk about it with your doctor and find out what is wrong.

Nausea and heartburn – While these problems can happen sometimes due to the food you eat, or excessive exertion, if these problems persist, and/or happen too frequently, it could be a sign of poor heart health at a young age.

Throat pain – While throat and jaw pain on their own have little to do with heart health, but if you often get chest pains that shoot up to your throat or jaw, it could be a sign of poor heart health.

Fatigue – If you feel fatigued very quickly, or can perform almost no physical activity without losing your breath, it means your heart is not in its best condition.

Snoring – Snoring is one of the most common conditions that even young people suffer from. Unusually loud snoring could be a sign of sleep apnea, which puts excess pressure on the heart.

Healing the heart can be difficult and a long process, especially because the organ does not get to rest even for a second. It is important to eat healthily, and exercise regularly to keep your risk of heart diseases at bay. Young people should refrain from smoking and drinking to keep the heart healthy.
