5 Expressways, 22 Access-Controlled Highways Have Been Taken Up By NHAI As Greenfield Corridors: Nitin Gadkari

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, today informed that five expressways and 22 access-controlled highways having a total length of 9,860 kilometres have been taken up by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) as greenfield corridors. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today, Mr. Gadkari said the approved or estimated project cost of the expressways and access-controlled highways is four lakh 19 thousand 130 crore rupees. He said 969 kilometres of National Highway projects were awarded in 2022–23 and 612 kilometres were awarded in 2023–24. The minister said his ministry is making all efforts to expedite the process of awarding new national highway projects. He said regular meetings are held with all concerned at various levels for the availability of necessary clearances and approvals and fulfilment of conditions precedent.
