217 independent candidates elected Chairpersons of BDC in Jammu and Kashmir; BJP wins 81 blocks

In Jammu and Kashmir, a total of 307 Chairpersons for Block Development Council were elected today.

Briefing media in Srinagar, late this evening  Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Shailendra Kumar while announcing the final results of BDC election said that a total of 217 independent and 81 BJP Candidates were declared a winner.

In Kashmir Division out of 137 Blocks notified for election,109 independent and 18 BJP candidates were elected.

In Jammu Division out of 148 blocks, 88 independent and 52 BJP candidates won the BDC election.

In Ladakh Division out of 31 blocks notified for election,20 independent and 11 BJP candidates were elected in today’s BDC elections.

Earlier, nearly 100 per cent polling was recorded in the maiden Block Development Council (BDC) elections today.

The elections were held peacefully throughout the State and no untoward incident was reported from any part of the state. Over 26 thousand Panches and Sarpanches participated in BDC elections held in Jammu & Kashmir & Ladakh today. 1065 candidates were in the fray for the BDC elections.
