17 Councillors of Darjeeling Municipal Corporation join BJP

As many as 17 councillors of the Darjeeling Municipal Corporation today joined BJP in New Delhi. Earlier, these Councillors were with Gorkha Janmukti Morcha. 

They were inducted into the party fold in presence of  BJP leader Mukul Roy and party’s West Bengal in-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Roy said, with the induction of these councillors , now there is a majority of BJP in the municipal corporation. 

He also hit out at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee saying that the poeple have given mandate against the TMC in the General Elections and in the next Assembly elections, the TMC will not even get the status of opposition party. The BJP has bagged 18 seats in the Lok Sabha elections out of 42.
