The Indian Army has deployed an additional 3,000 troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir to combat infiltration attempts by Pakistan Army. This development has come in the wake of intel inputs that Pakistan is likely to increase its infiltrations bids in the coming months.

An additional brigade has been deployed on the LoC to plug infiltration and this move has given good results too. The additional troops have been successful in foiling almost all the major attempts of infiltration and terrorists have not been allowed to cross over, added the sources.

The Pakistan Army is likely to increase its attempts to infiltrate the Indian border in October-November under the garb of heavy snowfall.

The Indian Army is fully active on the LoC and is well prepared to deal with any situation that arises at the border.

Pakistan targets forward areas along LoC for second day

Yesterday, Pakistan Army continued ceasefire violations for the second consecutive day by resorting to heavy firing and mortar shelling in forward areas along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. Indian Army retaliated befittingly to the Pakistani aggression.

“At about 1630 hours today, Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and intense shelling with mortars along the LoC in Balakote sector,” a defence spokesman said.

Pakistan troops have violated the ceasefire agreement 31 times so far this month. On Thursday, an Indian Army jawan was injured in Pakistani firing in Balakote sector.

An army personnel was killed and two others, including an officer, injured on Tuesday as Pakistani troops violated ceasefire by using heavy fire and mortar shells along the LoC in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district.

On September 2, a JCO was killed in ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops along the LoC in Keri sector of Rajouri.
