Former Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday hit out at the Shiv Sena for demolishing the office of Kangana Ranaut in Mumbai. The Bharatiya Janata Party leader added that “Kangana Ranaut’s issue was blown out of proportion” by Shiv Sena.
Noting that the Queen actress is not a political leader, Fadnavis added: “You don’t go to demolish Dawood’s home but you demolished her place.”
The Shiv Sena-ruled Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s demolition action at the actress’ office building in Bandra West earlier this week has drawn the ire of opposition as well as social media users.
The Shiv Sena even tried to distance itself from the BMC’s action with party leader Sanjay Raut telling the media: “Demolition at Kangana Ranaut’s office is the matter of BMC and it doesn’t concern Shiv Sena. You should talk to the BMC commissioner or Mayor regarding the matter.”
The BMC demolished parts of Kangana’s office days after the actress engaged in a war of words with Sanjay Raut, who got upset when the Tanu weds Manu actress likened the situation in Mumbai to that in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and compared the ruling Maharashtra government with Taliban.
Trouble mounted for Kangana when a number of police complaints were filed against her yesterday for the strongly-worded video statement against Uddhav Thackeray.
One of the complainants accused Kangana of using derogatory language against the Maharashtra CM in the video. The complainant said the actress’ action was an attempt “to diminish the character and challenge the dignity” of the CM.
