In all 62 countries such as Australia , Albania , Brazil , Bhutan , Canada , India , United Kingdom of Great Britain have backed a draft to be adopted at the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) World Health Assembly which will start on Monday, 18th May 2020 , which calls for “ impartial , independent and comprehensive “ probe into the COVID-!9 crisis.
The draft says , “ Initiaate , at the earliest appropriate moment , and in consultation with Member States , stepwise process of impartial , independent and comprehensive evaluation , including using existing mechanisms , as appropriate , to review experience gained and lessons learned from the WHO – coordinated international health response to COVID-19 , including (1) the effectiveness of the mechanisms at WHO’s disposal .”
This seems as a significant step as the origin of COVID-19 has always been suspected and doubts were being raised about the same since December , 2019 . Taiwan was the first nation to raise an alarm and had informed WHO in December 2019 , via an email sent to the International Health Regulations under the WHO , informing them of unknown Pneumonia cases in Wuhan , China .
US President Donald Trump too was unhappy about the role played by WHO to tackle against COVID-19 and thus has suspended all US funding to the organization last month . US has also called for investigation against China and access to the Wuhan laboratory from where the virus has been suspected to originate only to be denied access by China .
China on the other hand has tried to bully other nations by petty tactics of intimidation . It has also raised stakes in leading companies of various countries which are reeling financially due to coronavirus crisis . Even India has now stopped China to buy stakes in its companies which has irked it . China even threatened Australia saying will stop trade , tourism and will not allow its students to study there if it did not stop questioning it . US too was threatened by cancelation of order of Aircrafts to Boeing and investigations into the affairs of the companies such as Apple , Qualcomm amongst others which have huge offices and set ups in China .
China has even stopped participation of Taiwan in this WHA as it considers Taiwan as its part . Voting on participation of Taiwan in WHA will take place on Monday and still suspense is thus maintained over Taiwan’s participation .
Looking at the current situation prevalent across the world due to coronavirus pandemic thus it becomes essential for an “ impartial , independent and comprehensive “ probe to get to the truth behind the root cause of this pandemic .
