A two-day Workshop-cum-Awareness Programme on the Skill Development for Unorganized Workers under Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PMSYM) Scheme concluded at Kulgam today. The programme was organized by District Employment and Counseling Centre, Kulgam.
Assistant Director Employment Ghulam Rasool Malik and Statistical Officer Aijaz Ahmad Shah sensitized the participants about the pension schemes like PM- SYM and Pradhan Mantri Laghu Vyapari Mandhan (Karam Yogi) Pension Yojana, PM-LVMY.
They informed the participants that under PM-SYM scheme the un-organized workers mostly engaged as home-based workers, street vendors, mid-day meal workers, brick kiln workers, domestic workers, agriculture workers, construction workers, handloom workers, handicraft workers and similar other occupations whose monthly income is 15,000 rupees or less and who belong to the age group of 18-40 years can register under the PM-SYM Pension Scheme.
A subscriber is required to contribute a prescribed amount of 55 to 200 rupees depending upon the age of subscriber till the age of 60 years and the subscriber will receive a minimum monthly pension of 3,000 rupees after attaining the age of 60 years.
